I usually don't shoot landscapes or nature scenes. More often, my pictures spring from my imagination. I like themes that reflect on simpler times of the past. I'm nostalgic about the family farms, and the thriving downtowns of the villages and cities of the 1950's. As I travel, I am always on the lookout for abandoned farm houses and our state's fine old barns. I watch for lilacs blooming in the country in the spring. Sometimes they stand alone, the last marker of a family farm. As writer Jerry Apps recently said, "More likely than not, when you see these lonely lilacs you have located the site of an old farmhouse, now long gone." In the country villages, I always watch for that old general store, hoping to find one that hasn't been reluctantly forced into becoming an apartment or worse.

These pictures are people pictures from my vintage series. I would like to think that they might take the viewers back to the simpler times of days gone by.

I do a wide range of conceptual, fine art, and vintage glamour photography. The conceptual subjects range from the pastoral that you see here, to "worm in the rose" surprises and - occasionally troublesome anti-war and political messages.

I am a member of the Fox Vally Camera Club, and past president of the Oshkosh Area Photography Group. I have images hanging at Star Gallery (Oshkosh) and First Congregational Church (Oshkosh.)
